Sir John Key
Sir John Key is widely recognised as the 38th Prime Minister of New Zealand, having led the country through numerous challenges during his tenure from 2008 to 2016.
As leader of the National Party, he secured three consecutive general election victories and guided New Zealand through the global financial crisis and the aftermath of devastating earthquakes in Christchurch.
During his time in office, Sir John was committed to driving economic growth and maintaining fiscal responsibility. As Minister for Tourism, he was passionate about showcasing the best of New Zealand to both local and international visitors. In 2016, he chaired the International Democrat Union and the United Nations Security Council, demonstrating his expertise in international affairs.
Since retiring from politics, Sir John has taken on an ambassadorial role with Dr. Haruhisa Handa's International Sports Promotion Society (ISPS HANDA) and holds positions on several prominent New Zealand business boards. He also offers his insights and experience as a consultant and public speaker, sharing his knowledge with various organisations worldwide.
In 2017, Sir John was knighted as a Grand Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen's Birthday Honours List and appointed an Honorary Companion in the Order of Australia. The University of Canterbury further recognized his accomplishments by awarding him an honorary Doctorate of Commerce in December 2017.
